Communications

The practice of communications and of information science have followed two separate tracks with one an apparently artistic and the other a largely technological domain. The World Wide Web has changed that. Information management is now synonymous with communications.

There is too much information. Well designed documents and crafted messages are a necessary part of communicating with an audience. In this day and age though audiences access information through self-service technologies such as the World Wide Web. A communications strategy has to marry communications skills with an understanding of how and when users want to access information and what application they have in mind for it.

Our work involves drafting documents in ways that are easily understood by a target audience; advising on appropriate storage techniques so that document components can be retrieved by users; advising on discovery techniques for web sites; and working on user interfaces to strip out the complexity of computing.

We can work with you to understand how key audiences want to access and use your information and from there design the document, the database and the access methods.
