Libraries, museums and archives represent key knowledge resources with more people visiting museums than visit theme attractions each year. Traditionally bound by geography libraries are now opening up to the world. Our work involves defining ways to integrate archive databases to present information in the simplest and most direct way to the end-user. We are also involved in defining new work practices that are a necessary part of building digital knowledge resources.
The role libraries play in the preservation of historically important information and providing access to wider and wider audiences makes them a pivotal player in the digital world. Content is king and libraries, museums and archives are key content holders. Not only that. Their increasing emphasis on interacting with their audiences through events, e-government initiatives, and novel partnerships, and their ability to innovate in the types of exhibitions they provide, make this sector among the most innovative in the cultural sphere.
Via Knowledge places a special emphasis on its work with the users of libraries, museums and archival collections. These content holders will play an important role in the broadband digital future and we want to play our part in defining new products, services, partnerships and skills.
